WB Chat With Beverley Mitchell The WB caught up with Beverley on the red carpet at the 2003 Summer WB All-Star Party

What's The Best Thing About These Kind Of WB Parties ?:
Beverley Mitchell:
The friends, I think. The WB is such a great, like, family, and its fun. Like whenever there's new shows, I always go and welcome the new cast members and say, 'welcome to the family!', because it really is, I mean, everyone here is just so wonderful, we always have a blast and honestly, their the best parties in hollywood, I love them. I think their great, I mean, their right up there with premieres and all stuff like that, so... (nods her head to say 'yes, its great').

Have You Ever Hosted A Live Event ?:
"Yes, I am very excited. I've never hosted, I've presented a thing but I've never hosted, um, anything in this large, brand of perspectrum."

How Are You Feeling About It, Are You Nervous ?:
"I am nervous, um, alittle bit, uh everyone's really, really cool though, you know, everyone's just like 'go up there, have a good time, be yourself, don't try to be anything, uh, the bands are really great', so just go up and have fun and be myself, so I'm feeling alright."

Who Are You Most Excited To See Perform ?:
"Um, I think Wilshire, um, I hadn't heard of them before today and I got alittle bit of a preview of what they're gonna play but I'm really excited to see what they're going to do infront of a huge audience, coz they're so good, the lead singer, the woman, is just awesome, so it'll be great, really, show's over. I really want to see them but I think they'll be great."

And What About Anymore ?:
"I want to see Bow Wow coz I liked his stuff when he was younger and I'm really curious to see how he goes now."

What Have You Got In Your CD Player Right Now ?:
"Oh god, uh, such a eclectic group of things, actually right now I have John Denver in my cd player and, um, Jack Johnson, I got... Dungeon Family, um, I got Pulp Fiction, the album Pulp Fiction, all that stuff is great, I think I have the Almand Brothers, I mean it's really just all, 50 Cent, it's all over the place, I really like to listen to anything from Folk to Rap, I like it all."

Do You Get To Catch Up With Any Of Your Fellow 7H Cast Members Now You're So Busy ?:
"I see Bev Mitchell all the time because we're really good friends. I see Stephen alot because his daughter is in the same ballet school that I go to, so I see him when he's picking her up and I go over and say Hi but I haven't seen David, Mackenzie or Catherine unless I get to go home, I love going back there, it feels really comfortable, you know, it's like a second home for me which is wonderful to go back to."

Tell Us About Your New Film:
It's the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the remake, coming out in October on the 17th, and um, I think it's going to be really, really scary, I'm really excited for it."

What Was It Like, To Make The Film ?:
"Ha, it was definitely gross and, definitely fun, and scary!. I mean, it was difficult to make a movie like that, so much of it is physical and emotional, but very physical, there's alot of running and alot of action, and jumping, and cutting, scraping this and that, the greater thing than that is it's tiring."

Thanks to KTLA and Pepsi Smash for this interview with Jessica Biel.

Interviews From E!'s Special: Inside 7th Heaven:

Mackenzie compares her character to herself:"She likes to dip her nose into things, kinda like me, she's nosey, kinda like me (giggles alittle)".

Jessica describes her character:"Mary has, well she started out like a young kid at 14yrs old, started going through high school, started just kinda rebelling, kind of doing her own thing, having her own opinions, her own mind".

Beverley compares her character to herself:"Well the traits that we have, Lucy and I are very similar, her family values, her morals and um, she's like... her friends mean the world to her, like she would drop anything for any of those people".

David describes his character:"I don't think he is too nice, um, you can never be too nice... but ah, he's just kinda very cautious in a sense".

Beverley on getting her role:"I don't think it was at first, my age and perspeverance, like ya, you gotta see her, see her one more time!, so I went back in and they loved me, and went to many other auditions, then I got the part".

David on getting his role:"It was pretty much like any other deal, it was auditioning, you know they go in, first time there was millions of kids trying out".

David speaks about Stephen:"Stephen Collins out of the entire cast, reached me the most, probably because he's very intelligent, he's very well spoken, you know, he has a great sense of humor, you have a good time and you always learn something".

Catherine speaks about Stephen:"He's very good, yeah... he's very humble. He's new to it, so um, he's been really nice and ofcourse, he's an actor so he works like the actors, he knows the character so well, um, he's just very comfortable".

Catherine talks about Annie:"When I first took the job, I realised that the country is full of Annie Camden's. I'm proud to play Annie".

Stephen speaks about Barry:"Barry makes me laugh, He reminds me of myself at that age".

David speaks about Barry:"He'll just grab me and wrestle me into the ground, like give me a wedgie, or just push me around like a big older brother would".

David talks about his hardest episode:"The biggest episode I had to do, was probably the holocaust episode, the episode had no knowledge of the holocaust, I only heard it, you know, it was just a word to me".

David describes his love for cars:"I love cars, I have a taste on cars, I just appreciate them, they're awesome".

Barry speaks about David's popularity:"He is a hunk on the show, yeah... he's big!".

David talks about his future:"I want to go to college, to do film. Become a director or a producer".

Beverley's take on 7th Heaven:"The thing to me was that it's a dysfunctional family show and it's so rare to find that on television, especially when we started.

Beverley talks more on Lucy:It was just like a great character, she was so fun and suddenly my family could be proud of me".

Beverley talks about her fave episode:"One of our storylines involved the death of a friend, um, and it was that year that when one of my friends died in a car accident, so it was really tough because it was something I was dealing with in real life and it was something I had to straightly show so everyone knew my pain, everyone saw my pain. I just had to let everything go, I had to, you know, let loose and once I started, I think I cried that entire episode and ever since I did it, it's better, it's easier to deal with".

Beverley talks about a pact her mother and her made:"I made a promise with my mom, I made it when I was 4yrs old. We made a pact that if I ever thought I was better than anyone else on the playground, it didn't matter how much money I was making, she'd tell me the truth over again because it was not worth losing your kid to hollywood".

Jessica speaks about singing lessons:"I must've been like 7 and my mom gave me voice lessons before I was babysat and when she couldn't get a babysitter, I use to go with her and I said mom, I want to sing too. So I started taking voice lessons and then, I don't even remember but I just started auditioning for musicals, I just loved it and then I just said 'I want to be on tv'".

Jessica on her work before 7th Heaven:"I had done a few commercials and I had done some modelling and alot of musical theatre that I took part in when I was in Colorado and Conneticut, so 7th Heaven was pretty much my first thing ever".

Jessica tells us about her chance:"'7th Heaven' gave me the chance, you know, I'd never done anything before, I was really green, as you call it and they gave me the chance to really, really become a good actress".

Beverley talks about her relationship with Jessica:"We're very close, we've gone through everything together, I mean, Jesse was there when my friend died, Jesse was there when my parents got divorced, I mean, for every predigament in my life, she's been there for".

Jessica talks about her surfing and her future:"I've surfed alittle bit in California before with a few lessons and then when we were in Bali, they had a surf teacher and just gave us a few pointers and stuff like, alright, get out there and start!. I'd love to do more films, I'd love to go different characters, um, just get to be everything, I love to be everybody, you know, I love to do kinda different personalities, to try that, because you know thats the best part about acting".

Brenda talks about Mackenzie:"She has great timing, you know, you throw her the ball and she runs with it, we love writing for that kid".

Beverley speaks about Mackenzie:"Mack started the show, you know, 6yrs ago, she was this little thing, you know, we had people under her, holding her feet down so she wouldn't move, she never whines, never cries, she just goes up and she does it, she's so professional at a young age".

Mackenzie tells us why she likes interviews:"I love interviews, I love the free stuff!".

Adam speaks about getting his role:"Well before I came on the show, um, I met Jessica Biel, through a movie that we had done, and ah, I came down one time, just to visit and it's like, 'Hi Adam, how are you doing?', you know, they'd look at me like... Adam... thats the boyfriend, kinda like weird at first, just showing up saying 'hi'. I went to college and she called up and said 'they have a role for her boyfriend, would you be interested in doing it?" and I said, you know, 'sure', so things, you know, worked out, they got me on the show as a gues star".

Adam describes his character:"I think my character is pretty cool, you know, he started off as someone who was way off, had girlfriends, pregnancies and all this stuff and he really changed it around, you know, to good and he's turned into a Camden".

Beverley on the show's storylines:"We've dealt with so many morals and issues, everything over the years, um, anything from anorexia to bolimia, to you know, abuse, pregnancies, that stuff".

Adam describes his view of the show:"The shows kinda amazing because in a way, without really preaching, it gets across to America, alot of situations and problems. Problems that I think everyday people face".

Mackenzie describes her one of her episodes:"Something about we had illegal ferrets and we had to give them back, that stunk!".

Jessica talks about her fan mail:"You get fans letters that say 'what the heck is Mary doing!?, she's being crazy, tell her to stop hurting the family and her antics!', you know, I get kinda letters from fans that say 'I think Mary should be with Robbie or Mary should be with Wilson', that kind of thing".

Barry talks about leaving the show:"It's just time to move on, you know, I've moved on from alot of things, growing up in life and just, say I've been working for 6yrs but I'm really excited, it's like, you know, starting a whole new chapter of my life, it's exciting for me, I like that, I like just starting fresh again".

Barry speaks about after 7th Heaven:"You know whats great, is that when this is all over, like I'm going to still talk to these people, still going to have a relationship with these people".

Beverley talks about Catherine and Stephen:"And Stephen and Catherine, I don't even know what to say, their definitly like parents. I see them and they help me with my SAT's, they give me an SAT word everyday on set, um Catherine's always checking up on me, seeing how my school stuff is going, making sure that I'm, you know, sticking with it, it's just strange".

David talks about the crew's bondage:"Like literally, the crew, the cast, you know, everybody, we're one big family, you know and it's always been like that from day one".

Jessica speaks about cast relationships:"There's just like, thousands of memories, you know, thousands of great, great memories and people that I know I'm going to know for the rest of my life".

Mackenzie on cast relationships:"You know what I like best about it, the people. I like the people because everybodys really nice and welcoming, I also like the catering".

Stephen tells us what he'd do with the show:"I would go back to Brenda Hamptons pitch for the show, if she wanted to pitch the show for spelling, her entire pitch was one question, she said 'what if there were a functional family in America?' and I think thats what we represent, it's a long way from 'Leave It To Beaver', if she dealt with more of the stuff we deal with and yet it's still in that mould".

Barry Watson Fills Us In:

Poppy:What were you like as a kid?
Barry: "I grew up in Dallas with cowboys. I was the only guy in sixth grade with long hair and an earring.  Let's just say I got a lot of, 'er flak for being different."

Poppy:Would you ever cut your hair?
Barry: "When I started on 7th Heaven, the producers talked about cutting it off, and I said, 'Why can't a minister's son have long hair?' I made a big stink about it, and now every time I want to cut it, they're like, 'Your going to keep it long, right?"

Poppy:How are you similar to your character Matt on 7th Heaven:
Barry: Well, I've never really been agressive with girls, and that's definently Matt. He doesn't know when women are attracted to him. I'm kind of stupid that way. I can never tell when someone's attracted to me. If I could, my love life would have been alot better the last ten years!

Poppy:Who was your first crush?
Barry: "My family had a cottage on Lake Michigan, and there was this cute little blonde next door. I was 4 or 5. Now that I think about it, I wonder what she is doing.

Poppy:Is it easy to adjust to fame?
Barry: Sometimes I laugh when people hire me for acting jobs. I mean, I was a valet parker just a couple of years back. I was parking cars for people who want to work with me now. I'll talk to them and think to myself, "I use to park your car! And you didn't tip me either."

Poppy: Ever had a totally embarassing role?
Barry: I was on Baywatch. I was the first person who ever drowned on Baywatch. We were drinking on a boat and doing fireworks. The boat caught on fire and started sinking, and everyone jumped out. But I had passed out, so they forgot about me!

Catch Barry Watson weekly in 7th Heaven on Channel Ten.

Jessica Tells Us What She & Her Friends Get Up To:

Poppy:What do you get up to when hanging with your pals?
Jessica: We like to screw around and throw water balloons or spit wads of gum at movie screens. Making trouble is a blast!"

Poppy:Thanks for that and goodluck on 7th Heaven! Catch 7th Heaven on Channel Ten Saturdays.

We caught up with David Gallagher, here is what he had to say:

Poppy:What was the last video you hired?
David: I actually bought The Matrix

Poppy:Did you have a favourite scene?
David: The fight scene with Lawrence Fishburne and Keanu Reeves. He's just learnt all this kung-fu. They're dressed in robes and they have this big brawl.

Poppy:What is the next video you want to see?
David: I'm looking forward to Sleepy Hollow and Episode 1.

Poppy:7th Heaven is taking off in Australia, what do you know about us?
David: I've always been interested in Australia. I've always wanted to visit. The things that interest me the most are mainly about wild animals that you guys have there that aren't found anywhere else in the world. Like Kangaroos and the duckbill platypus - I've always wanted to see them in their wild habitat.

Poppy:Is Barry Watson quiet in real life?
David: Who, Barry? (laughs) Quiet?! Not at all. Barry is the wildest, I think, aside from Jessica Biel. Jessica, out of all of us, is the most wild. She has this personality that is just like, "Let's party and have a great time!" Next to her, it's definently Barry because he loves playing around and telling jokes. We have a lot of fun. When a scene is done we all goof around with the crew. It;s work that you look forward to.

Poppy:Did you meet Katie Holmes when she was working on Teaching Mrs Tingle with Barry?
David: Yes, I did. I was very excited about that. She's nice. She's quiet. I didn't get to talk to her very much because there were so many people wanting to speak to her about that movie, but I got to say hi to her.

Poppy:Do any of your friends have a crush on Jessica?
David: I couldn't count the number! I really couldn't. Almost all of my friends tell me, "Oh man, your older sister! She's so pretty. Can you give her my number?" I'm like, "No, I cannot 'cause she's, like, 17 and you're, how old-14? Oh yeh, that's right, sorry." Then they're like, "What about Lucy?" And Beverley Mitchell is 20!

Poppy:Are you pals with any other stars on your US network, The WB?
David: I'm good friends with Seth Green, who's on Buffy. Every time we have a photo shoot and he's there, we always hang out and stuff like that. He's kind of like the male version of a Jessica Biel! He likes to have fun and party and goof around. I also know David Boreanz. He does Angel now. I say hi to him when we're at photo shoots. He's a nice guy. I usually have to be in bed when Angel is on in America. I haven't had the privilege to speak to Sarah Michelle Gellar, but I have seen her around on a couple of occasions. I will say hi to her eventually.

The WB caught up with Beverley Mitchell on college life/tv life - 2001:

Since I went to a college preparatory high school, there was really no question that I would go on to college - even though everyone kept saying, "Oh, you don't need to go to college - you have a great career already!" Sure, I have a job now, but the acting business isn't always that solid, and so I wanted something to fall back upon. I think it's so important to keep learning and keep your brain active. I'm a sophomore now at a small, private university in the Los Angeles area. I lived in the dorms last year, and I can't even tell you how much that experience has given me. Being an only child, I've never really gotten to interact with so many people my own age before.

Actually, the kids at school don't treat me any differently at all just because I'm on television. They don't point fingers or make comments. For the longest time, I was convinced that half the people at school had no idea who I was. I was so excited that people wanted to be friends with me because they thought I was cool - not because I was on TV.

I loved being able to live on campus. I made so many everlasting friendships. I was sort of considered the "mom" of the dorm, because whenever people were upset or not feeling well, they came to me. If I knew someone was sad, I'd go to the grocery store and buy some roses, put them at their door, then knock and run. Living in the dorm was such a fun and rewarding experience because we were all in the same boat. It was like I finally had sisters.

Yet as much as I loved living in the dorms, it was really stressful with my work schedule. I'd get up at 5:30 in the morning in order to be on the set by 6:30. In the dorms, it's obviously harder to sleep because everyone is so nocturnal. So it was really hard to get enough sleep. I was just burning my candle at both ends. Healthwise, I realized I needed to be somewhere where I could sleep without interruption, so this year, I live in my own house. It's not too far from campus. My friends from the dorm still come over, so I still have that same interaction.

Still, it's tough trying to combine my acting career with my college career. I try to do my homework in the wee hours of the night after I get home from work. Last year, I had nine units, which is only one class short of a full-time student. It was so incredibly challenging. Sometimes I would call my mom at midnight and say, "I just can't go on like this; it's too hard." It was my fault for pushing myself to the edge.

For that reason, I'm taking an easier load this semester. Right now, I'm taking a speech class, which is actually a lot of fun. You'd think it would be easy for me since I'm an actress, but it's actually quite different. There's no camera and no script. I basically have to write my own script. My next assignment is to make a sales presentation, so that's what I've been working on lately. Even though college has been hard, I don't want to give up. I think school is important, and it adds another dimension to my life. Plus, it's great getting to interact with kids my own age. I'm only 20 years old, and I need to act like it sometimes. So I go out with my friends, and we go to movies or dances or the occasional frat party. I actually wanted to join a sorority, but it wound up being impossible with my work schedule.

Even so, I still manage to have a lot of fun. This year I was hanging out with my friends in the dorm, and we just started launching water balloons at people. We were running around the building throwing them out different windows and hiding in different corners of the building as if we were snipers. It was fun, but of course we got in so much trouble.

If I had to give one piece of advice to incoming college freshmen, I'd say always be true to yourself. There are so many people who will try to push their opinions on you. The moment you let go of what you believe in, you're letting someone else take over. Be yourself, and if people don't accept you for who you are, then just walk away, because they're not worth it.

The WB also caught up with Beverley on her fashion styles:

Ch-ch-ch-changes: Lucy's style has changed dramatically over the years," says Mitchell. "She used to only wear straight, conservative clothing, most of which came from the children's department. Then she started wearing baggy jeans and T-shirts. Now she's become a lot more trendy, which suits me just fine."

Feelin' Groovy: The wardrobe people on the show never make me wear anything I'm not comfortable with," says the actress. "It's nice to know they're not going to make me wear some hideous outfit."

Body in Motion: To stay in shape, Mitchell works out three times a week with a trainer and tries her best to stay away from all the on-set munchies. "Some days it's so tempting. It's like those doughnuts are calling to me."

Worse for Wear: I seriously hope big flannels with baggy pants never, ever return as a fashion trend," says Mitchell. "Back in seventh grade I was this tiny 75-pound nothing of a girl wearing these huge baggy pants and a big flannel top. I might as well have been invisible."

The WB caught up with  David Gallagher - 2001:

The WB:If you could give Simon advice on life, where would you start?
David: I'd probably tell him to lighten up a little. Sometimes I get annoyed by his lecturing. And I'm not sure he knows how to have fun. Not that being so mature is a bad thing, but there are times to be mature and there are times to be loose.

The WB:Is your real-life family like your TV family?
David: Not really. Yet, out of all the cast members, my family resembles the Camdens the most in terms of siblings. I'm the oldest, so I'm the "Matt" of our family. Then come my sisters Michelle and Kelly, who would be Mary and Lucy. Then there's my little brother Kyle who would be Simon, and Killian who would be Ruthie. So if you made Ruthie a boy, I guess we'd be the same.

The WB:Do you like having so many brothers and sisters?
David: I really don't know any different. It's weird, though, because a lot of times I'll read the scripts and think: Yeah, that's happened in our family. I can't wait for my little sisters to start dating, because it will really be fun to pick on their boyfriends.

The WB:Do your parents cut you any slack at home because you're a star?
David: We don't really work on a chore system at my house. It's more or less like when you see something out of place, pick it up. But if my parents say, "Pick up the living room," I pick up the living room. So yeah, I get the "privilege" of helping out.

The WB:Is it intimidating to be considered a heartthrob?
David: Getting recognized and all that is cool. It mostly occurs when I'm away doing publicity things in other cities. I narrated an orchestra one time in Cincinnati, and there were a lot of girls my age there who were really into the whole deal. But when I'm out in my normal life, I really don't run into it a lot at all. Just my luck.

The WB:Do your friends give you a hard time about seeing you in teen magazines and things like that?
David: Oh yeah. If I'm with my friends and fans approach me, my friends always have funny reactions. It can be good or bad, depending on the situation. Once when I was out with some of my friends at a theme park, a bunch of girls approached, and my friends ran off with me as if they were my bodyguards. They really do make fun of me about it. One guy saved a newspaper article about the fact that I got my driver's license. I'm never gonna hear the end of that. He couldn't believe I was in the paper just because I got my license.

The WB:So was passing the driving test a big deal?
David: It went much smoother than I originally thought it would. I was practicing like crazy when I got my permit, getting in two hours of driving every day at the very least. I made sure that right before I took the test I double-checked all my car knowledge. That was my real concern, because when you get nervous you forget things. I was afraid I would forget where my defroster was or something stupid like that. So I made sure I really was prepared. I lost five points, but I did well.

The WB:Are your parents paranoid about letting you drive on your own?
David: My parents are really cool about it. They trust me because they had both been out driving with me a lot when I had my permit. So they consider me a good driver. It's fun going out and meeting your friends and not having to worry about when mom and dad can pick you up.

The WB:Do you ever miss the normal life and things like football games or school dances?
David: I wish I could go to the school where my close friends go, but I obviously can't. The good thing is, they're really good about inviting me to all the football games and all that stuff. So I end up having an adopted team spirit for a school I don't go to.

The WB:What about college? Do you plan on going while you're still on the show?
David: No way! That is ludicrous. It's just too hard. I'm in my sophomore year in high school right now, and that's hard enough. I'm in honors classes, and they're so time-consuming. When the time for college comes around, I've decided I'm going to take a break from the show so I can go to college. I've been thinking about going to UCLA.

The WB:So what sort of things do you like to do to unwind?
David: I like to play the guitar. I've tried to start a couple of bands, but my friends aren't too into it. The only friend I have who's really into it also plays guitar, so we're really not getting anywhere. But it's great to get my mind off schoolwork and personal-life drama.

The WB:What would you like to see happen for Simon in the future?
David: Simon needs his own garage band. I don't know if that's ever going to materialize, but I can hope. They've already established that his dad plays the guitar, so it would be a great father/son thing. But that's really up to the show.
